I teach electric and acoustic guitar in English — online, or in person in the Bülach area in the canton of Zurich. Every level, every age, children and adults. If you've just bought your first guitar and aren't sure which way round to hold it, that's a fine place to start. If you've been playing for fifteen years and have hit the wall every guitarist eventually hits, that's a fine place to start too.
We combine three things, in whatever proportion suits you: technique (alternate picking, legato, sweep picking, string skipping, the unglamorous stuff that quietly fixes everything), songs you actually want to play, and music theory that earns its keep — the pentatonic scales, major and minor, barre chords, improvisation, and on into jazz voicings and drop-2 shapes if that's where you want to go.
No fixed syllabus you have to march through. I have my strengths and I'm honest about the areas I'm still working on myself — which means we stay curious and, to some extent, learn alongside each other. That tends to work better than pretending otherwise.
Lessons run in English or German, whichever you're comfortable with. If you've moved to the Zurich area and would rather not learn music theory in a second language while also learning music theory, English lessons take one variable out of the equation. Online lessons work the same way and are open to players anywhere.
